FM Tuning Meter sticking / stuck on 2245

My Marantz 2245 has a FM tuning meter with needle that is sticking / stuck. It moves if I tap it with my finger but when it gets stuck it doesn't move even if I move the tuning dial. I have checked voltage across the meter and it varies between 2 Milli VDC to 60 Milli VDC when I move the tuning dial so I presume that the circuit and connections are OK. I have also Deoxited the selector switch connections. Any suggestion ?

I have a spare FM tuning meter from old 2245. If I have to replace it, can someone advice on how it's done ?

Sometimes the sticking is due to static build up in the plastic face. Wiping gently with a dryer sheet may fix your problem.

If you need to replace the meter you will have to remove the top cover, the knobs and the face plate. Then remove the screw(s) securing the lamp holder to the meter shroud and move it back out if the way. Note the wire colors on both the SS and tuning meters (there may be a capacitor, too, so note the polarity) and clip these close to the meter lugs. Pull the two screws on top of the meter shroud that secure it to the front chassis and then the two black counter sink headed ones that go through the dial to secure the bottom of the shroud.

You should be able to remove the shroud now. The meter(s) are attached to the rear side of the front chassis with double sided tape, some time you can just rotate the meter up and off, sometimes it take some persuasion from an exacto knife. While you have it apart replace the vellum and when you put it back on attach the meter to the front chassis with 'Terrifically Tacky Tape' from the hobby store. Reverse the procedure to reinstall the shroud and lamp holder. Clean the old solder and wire bits off the meter lugs, strip, reinstall and solder the wires back where they go.
