Foam specific to a particular speaker?

I have the opportunity to pick up some Realistc T-70's that 'look' great (and from research, should sound great too) but as expected with older speakers, the 8" woofer needs new foam, which is cool, I've re-foamed speakers before, but previously I've been able to purchase a foam kit made for the exact speaker I was re-foaming. I'm not able to find such a kit for the T-70's. Can I use any 8" woofer foam kit? Any caveats in doing so?

"Any" is a pretty broad brush. The caveat, and Captain Obvous statement is, "any that fits" is your only choice if there isn't one specifically identified for them.

In reality I believe there is often a limited group of replacement surround sets. Most sources make it by speaker so customers have an easy time figuring out what they need. Some of them list the dimensions and so you can match them up. If looking at the generic sets have to use measurements to find the right one.

Inside lip match cone design (inside lip angled or flat) making sure that inside part overlaps with the outer edge of the cone, the roll is over the gap between cone and basket, and then the flat outer part over the basket.

I think I have used the Simply Speakers sets several times in the past trying to remember if I have gotten any from Midwest Speaker Repair, know I have gotten some stuff from the latter. Looking at Simply Speakers they are usually good about giving the detailed dimensions to help you ensure it should work. Other sources out there.

ah ha! Great resource, was not able to locate anything with the Googles...These guys have Optimus 8 inch foam kits, I think that's about as close as I'll get, or at least on the right path.

I got careless with a screwdriver and punched a hole in the rubber surround of the passive radiator in a Polk speaker a few years ago. Had to use the measurements to get a replacement surround. It worked out.
