Food Pervert!

Theophilus Punoval

The Queen says it's OK...
I got an Omaha Steaks package for Christmas. I made myself a nice medium rare filet mignon, asparagus and some melange with brussel sprouts they had ready-to-fix at Wegmans.

I put Goya hot sauce on the steak. God help me, I did.

After the last contented belch I realized that I'm a food pervert. There ought to be a support group for guys like me who are compelled to adulterate good food. Or at least a firing squad.

You are not alone,I do the same. Hot Sauce is a food group, right?

We are having a nice prime rib tonight, the boys will surely be using some sauce.Me,it will be creamy horseradish.

Adulterate? No, enhance. Embellish, if you will. Adorn.

I love a good grilled steak, but I wouldn't want to live on that alone. Hot sauce, or gorgonzola, or sauteed mushrooms or carmelized onions, or Diane sauce or...

Lots of great choices to add to an already fine meal.

+1 on the asparagus and Brussels sprouts, though we are in the minority here.

I'm a firm believer that it's rude if you don't take a piece of buttered bread and sop up all the juice and/or gravy on a plate. (Tortilla, in the case of Mexican food).:thmbsp::thmbsp:

Yes, Hot Sauce is a food group. At least in my house. Give me half a chance and I will put a good hot sauce on my Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

Danimal,

That sounds pretty good !

Cinnamon and hot sauce go together quite well in my opinion.

I like them in my hunter's stew with a chopped apple thrown in near serving time.

I like the apple touch. Must add some nice texture with a hint of sweet. I'll have to try that.

I put a little heat in just about everything I make. When my wife and I were first together she thought ketchup was spicy. Over the years I have ramped up her heat tolerance and she can handle some pretty hot stuff and she didn't even realize it. My 17 year old daughter is quite the chile head, also.

very nice touch. a little out of the box thinking keeps both cooking and food fun and out of the doldrums. a bit of sweet with spicy and savory flavors can be delightful. the closest I've come to this is probably cooking carrots in spaghetti sauce

Depends on the type of steak, and how its cooked. A really good cut, over flame (no more 'done' than med-rare), and I won't dare use anything on it. With a lesser cut, or if I can't get it grilled, I'll happily throw some hot sauce, blue cheese, mushrooms or salsa on it.

I love a good, grilled, marbled rib-eye steak. Which is just fine all by itself. But shoot me... I put Ketchup on it. I also like the Jamaican Pickapeppa Sauce.

Apples really do add a little something without over powering the dish. I also use sauerkraut in some of my stews, especially the hunter's stew ...it may seem odd,but the apples and the kraut work off each other. The sauerkraut mellows with cooking, not in your face like fresh on a hotdog. Not that fresh is a bad thing.

Lou,you are not alone anymore. Funny how us food lovers seem to come together.
