For Speaker Builders.

I found this article from a journal called "Speaker builder" last night. It's highly technical and is far beyond my understanding. But I thought it might be of use to speaker builders with an engineering background. I think it's related to acoustic (air) suspension speakers. Here is the article. It gave me an idea of just how complex it is to design a speaker--a very humbling experience.

WTF! Math is involved in speaker design? Well that blows. Guess I'll just keep buying readymades.

and thats just for a AS speaker alignment! imagine the more complex calculations for ported and t-lines..

That's why people program the math into spreadsheets and java scripts. :)

I'll bet you thought you were going to receive useful and supportive responses, weren't you?

Fool.

(And, no. I don't you're foolish. You just haven't been around here long enough to receive any friend requests, have you?)

How you respond to your critics is, well, this is a turning point for you, Grasshopper. Choose wisely.

Critics? Who criticized him? People are agreeing that the math involved in speaker design is formidable.

If you really want to get into the math we can do that. I'm a speaker designer by profession and back in school went far enough in acoustics that we worked through the differential equations for a 2 dimensional wave equation. Even back then when it was fresh in my mind that was a multi-day affair. However, I don't think that was the point of the thread. It was just to point out that the math is pretty advanced, hence my response pointing out that the work is done by computers these days instead of going old school with a pencil and paper.
