For those wanting an inexpensive cassette deck...

That fella has been trying to sell that tape deck for over a year now. He's dreaming if he thinks its worth $2808.00. I'm sure its nice, but lets get realistic, top end I can't see more then $500 for it even with the upgraded RCA jacks.

Even a stretch of 700 might get someone to bite, but 2800 :scratch2:
 
Each time it is listed the prices creeps up a little. I think the person has spent more on listing fees than the deck is worth. :scratch2:
 
Yep. I've seen that deck listed many times too. Even once PM'ed the seller basically telling him he's living in Alice In Wonderland if he expects to get even half that. Of course, no response.

Now as noted above, it *IS* a nice deck and would make a fine addition to any system. But even someone like me, who demands only the finest examples of items I want (and am willing pay for said quality), I wouldn't pay a dime over $700 for it. And I think that's very generous. As of late, some comparable condition 10" reel to reel decks have been going for ~$600-800. And that's for a REEL. No way a cassette is worth that.

My feeling (and this is just a gut hunch with nothing more to substantiate it) is this guy is one of those line in the sand sellers. He (like so many people who think they're going to sell their houses these days) have taken a "full price or no sale" mentality and would rather list and relist over and over and over (jacking up the price a bit each time if necessary to offset the fees) for essentially an indefinite period before he capitulates to even a penny "discount". Ergo, he wants $2800, period. Not a dime less. And he doesn't care how long it takes or how many times it needs to get [re]listed. If the insertion fees require upping the price to $2900, $3500, or $100,000 to get that $2800, then so be it.

Nothing wrong with holding out if you truly, sincerely believe that's what it's worth. But be prepared to wait. A long time. Maybe forever. Ultimately, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. But hey. It's your item. As with the aforementioned house, sometimes you can't wait forever. If this guy NEEDS to move the deck (as in get rid of it), sooner or later, it'll sink it that he will HAVE to lower the price. The market and/or circumstances beyond his control will dictate it. Probably to about a third of what it is now if he expects to make a sale.

OTOH if he is just being greedy and doesn't need to move it, then he'll likely have it forever. And none of us will ever get it.
