She has not posted here since 02/19/2012. She and I have/had a friendship off-site. I've gotten to know her and her communication with me is consistent with a grounded, stable individual. No excess of sob stories or outlandish tales or anything that would raise a flag. (I'm almost expert in spotting that stuff unfortunately. I say "unfortunately" because I have a sibling who has provided me with excellent training if you get my drift).:sigh:
As for not responding to birthday wishes, yes some veiw that as rude and there's nothing wrong with that veiw. Perhaps, it was unintended? I really don't know. I myself don't often respond to birthday wishes because half the time I don't remember when my birthday is. (I've had to look it up on many occasion).

I suppose her sudden "storming" of the forum (not intended perjoratively) and equally abrupt departure may've been viewed as odd behavior by some. Peoples' lives change every second- who's to say? Whatever the case, she certainly livened things up during her brief stay.

*Speaking of avatars I decided to try a new one myself after a year of the power meter. :)

Also is it not possible that anyone can have a resembalance to a celeb of one form or other? For instance, I used to be mistaken for Bono once in a great while! (That really sucked too. Not that Bono isn't a nice guy or something, but I'm a great big nobody who isn't worth two nickels rubbed together. Reconciling that is uncomfortable as hell).

Some of the exact pictures she used were that of somebody else. Not a likeness...the exact pictures. And she repeatedly said that they were of her. As in, she blatantly lied. And I do believe that it was after this came to light that she stormed out.

I'm not trying to rub-in her disappearance, just offering a word of caution about reading too much into it, when so much of her existence here was based upon deception and playing games with minds.

True. Being that she is a female in a predominately male hobby only serves to amplify that. (We really need more females in this hobby, I think they have a valued perspective us males often overlook, but what ya do).

Nice avatar by the way.:thmbsp: I might come up with one someday.
 
I had always assumed she was an ex-member who'd felt wronged by this place who invented a cute/hot female persona as some sort of elaborately strange rouse to play off of the loneliness and insecurities of the larger group. I'd love to have had communication with her that suggested otherwise, and even though we exchanged a few PMs about stuff, nothing ever seemed out of place with my assumption.

Your now going to need to prove that please. If you could PM me those pics, I would appreciate it. I mean the pics of the person you are claiming she claimed to be. Like I said, she sent me pics that didn't appear to be someone else, especially the one with her husband. I'd like to see and evaluate for myself in an unbiased fashion. (It's easy for me to tkae myself out of the picture to do that. I've had lots of practice).
I'm not defending any strange behavior and especially not lies, but I need more evidence before I can say without doubt that it's all a game with her. As I said, she has been communicating with me for a year or so and not once has she said anything even inappropiate to me nor has she behaved as someone unhinged or shady. (I would have spotted it straight away and told her point blank and that would have been it).
If it turns out that what you state is true, then it's a new ball game and her friendship file is deleted as far as I'm concerned.
That said, I'm not worried sick over her, but I am concerned given the state of the friendship. After several attempts to reach her, if I don't hear from her in another month, I will just write it off. In the meantime, I want to give benefit of doubt and hope that nothing tragic has occured.
 
Actually, I believe she left long before the "Birthday" thread when is when the avatar questioning began. In any case, I doubt anyone would've begun a Bday thread or posted in - after the "misrepresentation" had been revealed. Small point either way.

Can't recall now whether she positively identified the avatar image to be herself. I do remember strongly forming that impression however.

Well my Avatar is not of me I am sorry to say. I am far from being that hot ..

Honestly she seems nice , harmless and all and who knows what her deal is. I do know she posted some pretty out there stuff elsewhere on the internet of the Political nature. So perhaps she found her way to us via political chat and after a while decided to move on.
