This is an old school western in the Louis L'Amour style. it is 1872 John Henry Clayton (Kiefer Sutherland) gunfighter returns home to his estranged father Reverend Clayton (Donald Sutherland), yes father and son, He wants to give up gunfighting but he rides into Fowler, Wyoming (I am a Wyoming native and Fowler, Wyoming is a fictitious location) where a range war is breaking out between local ranchers and land grabbing outsider James McCurdy (Brian Cox) who has hired a gang of gunfighters and a professional gunslinger Gentlemen Dave Turner (Michael Wincott) to force the ranchers off their land so he can take over and sell off to and incoming railroad company, a boiler plate plot in Louis L'Amour style westerns. This western is nicely done in this old style but with social tensions and realities you did not find in westerns from the 1950's and '60's. It would be nice to see actual L'Amour western remade in this style because this sure how he wrote them. The Kilkenny books like this, oh boy get out the pop corn!!!!!
