Forte's have improved over the years just as have electronics. So Yes I can see the opportunity for improvement with. upgrades in the right direction. IF you like the dynamics of Klipsch speakers I'm afraid you only have a few Choices out there left. Horn loaded Altec Model 19, Horn loaded EV model 6 and Later Georgians, Later Forte's, Chorus, Model CF3 or 4 two way Klipsch, and Cornwalls. And of course JBL's but only the Horn loaded ones have the necessary dynamic capabilities. L300, 4430 for example. or the newer costly DD series models. Oh there are others such as Tannoy and Ugly looking UREI studio monitors. Everything else is going to cost you big bucks for big power restored and even then you will miss the effortless ease of Horn loaded dynamics.
I gave up 6 db on Dynamics years ago to get the bass quality I wanted. Live recordings I made with professional studio tube condenser mics and SS condenser mics just didn't sound right with Cornwalls or Corner Horns. So I accepted a compromise in Dynamics and bought Bozaks Symphonies and then Concert Grands which I bi-amped and then tri amped. Its a choice we each have to make. But at least I have a 6 db advantage in sensitivity over most consumer speakers. 95,5 db 1 meter 1 watt.
