Forte II speaker cables.

I've been recently trying to improve sound of my system that includes Fortes II - sound was somewhat imbalanced, guitars and vocal sounded harsh and unclear that was most noticeable with more dynamic music (Guns'N'Roses "Ain't it fun" as an example), but actually can be applied to anything that I played. After some experiments I occasionally found out that it was resolved by changing my "Monster cable with Duraflex insulation" speaker cables to Silent Wire LS12. I should probably feel happy at that point, but unfortunately price of Silent Wire is somewhat higher than what I've paid for Fortes

So, I'd be glad if you share your experience about perfect budget speaker cables you use as I believe that while Silent Wire is a very good cable, comparable alternatives still can exist )

I'm not a big cable guy, but I wanted shorter cables for my Quartets. I bought some Belden 9497 wire terminated with bananas. Very inexpensive. it's normally used as hook up wire. I had read that Shindo and other mfgs. prefer it for speaker wire as well, particularly with high efficiency speakers. I didn't really expect to hear any difference but I was shocked at the obvious difference I did hear. I was using 12 ga. stranded copper before. I put on some music that had sounded bad with the Quartets and found it transformed-the hash like glare in the upper frequencies was attenuated nicely and there was a blacker presentation. Notes stood out with greater separation. It has my recommendation.

Hmm... My Fortes sound the same no matter what speaker wire I choose. ...Good. I even have some 14awg 50/50 Copper/silver wire...

Looking at their website, it appears the cable is constructed of 8 solid core copper strands, twisted.

Perhaps you could look for something cheaper with a similar construction.

I've checked the price and have a feeling that even if it does not work I don't really loose anything. Thanks for recommendation.
