Forte II Speakers - Take 2

I picked these Forte II speakers up this evening from original owner. They are in nearly new condition. I've owned another pair of Forte II speakers in the past. I liked their sound, but cabinets had a few scratches and marks which bothered me. I hooked the new Fortes to a pair of Monarchy amps and tube preamp tonight. Sound very nice. I didn't need another pair of speakers, but am always drawn to older Klipsch speakers when listed locally.

you might try raising your Forte ll speakers up about 10 - 12 inches or what ever it takes to get the centre of the mid horn up to your seated ear height which is usually around 39 inches off the floor plus or minus depending upon how tall you are and your seating.
You might also keep your eyes open for a set of KLF20 same footprint only turned sideways and or a pair of Epic series CF3 which are a slightly larger footprint but the best option if you tend to listen in the near field (10 - 12 foot distance) as far as stage and image go with the largest horn and the best driver of the lot. Klipsch are a lot of fun to collect and listen to and the Forte ll are to me perhaps the best reference point of the lot for the least. The CF3 will give you the upgrade to a nice aluminum two inch diaphragm with a one inch exit wide band driver with the option to further upgrade to a titanium diaphragm later for a smoother more extended response. I have had Forte, Forte ll along with two sets of KLF20 (they do need ti tweeter diaphragms as the stock poly units are not good) and a set of CF3 which to me are head and shoulders the best of the lot. Have fun what ever you do. Best regards Moray James.
