Forte K-75-K tweeters are bad

Forte midrange horns are so strong / loud and cover so high frequency (at least 14kHz) that I have a hard time to distinquish if tweeter horns work or not in my new Forte. Today, I took tweeters out and both tweeters are dead. They both measured “OL” by ohmmeter. Wnen replaced in Forte by my spare test tweeter, the test tweeter plays great.

I called Klipsch and they have original K-75-K kit (diaphragm and magnet driver, so I have to use my own horns); two tweeters with shiping would be about $70, a little steep for me.

I checked eBay and there’s nothing at the moment. Are they appearing on eBay often? Where is the best place to get them?

For the K75, the new titanium diaphragms from Bob are pretty much a no-brainer. I love 'em in my Heresy IIs (to the point that I need to get a set of Klipsch titanium diaphragms for my K53 mids). While you are at it, you may want to consider a Crites recap kit for your crossover network.

$70 a pair including shipping is quite reasonable in the world of speaker repair. I cannot imagine you will find any cheaper alternative even if you find used drivers.

There has been discussion at the Klipsch forum of late about blowing diaphragms. They were cheap knock offs made with garbage adhesive so the domes slide off the voice coils when they are driven hard. Bob's Ti tweeter is the best least inexpensive tweeter diaphragm you can get which is quality and the Klipsch Ti mid diaphragms are the best you can get $70.00 is a good deal for them. You get what you pay for and your time is worth more than the parts. Best regards Moray James.
