Forte

I just picked up a pair of Forte 1's...the passive dust cap is crushed in - I suspect duct tape will take care of that. However, they look original and I've been reading about new caps or crossovers. Should I and how easy is it to do? I'll need step by step instructions - is there a thread that addresses this?

Check out Bob Crites site

Larry,

Go to www.critesspeakers.com and you'll get all the info you need to recap your Fortes. You'll see Bob Crites name mentioned time and again in regard to sprucing up Klipsch speakers.

Have fun with the rebuild,
Bruce

I don't have the talent to do those myself so I have had Bob and his son make new crossovers for a couple of pair of Heresys and a pair of Quartets...he is reasonably priced enough to make me not "try" to do them myself...although he is very reasonable for the do it yourselfers too...give him a ring...

I had the exact thing on my Fortes. Dust cap pushed in. I used a vacuum cleaner to get them up.

I ended up getting all new crossovers from Bob Crites for the Fortes. Big difference...

The Forte's can be pretty amazing! You probably have looked at my thread here

The sky has not been a limit on what they can do for me.

I recently have been working on a Burson discrete Op Amp upgrade for my CD player that has revealed new capabilities of the Fortes that I will soon post about!

Here's the link to the Burson mod.

Im another happy Bob Crites customer who purchased Forte crossovers. Like you, one of my passive radiator dust caps was pushed in...popped it out with a shop vac. The new crossovers made a big difference, well worth the money, and not all that hard to install. The titanium diaphrams make a good difference too, they really smooth out the top end. All of the harshness is gone with the new diaphragms. Between the crossovers and titanium diaphragms, youll spend ~$300 shipped.

EDIT: I just noticed youre in the Detroit area. If you wanna swing on bye and have a listen to Fortes with Crites goodies lemme know :D. Im in Sterling Heights.

Thanks, I just may do that - I'm thinking of putting the Forte's in my main system - replace, for the time being my Time Windows and Vandersteens.

I asked Chris Munson to do new crossovers for my Forte IIs, but I can vouch for the effect of the titanium diaphragms. All harshness gone, just like that! You can toe them in a lot more now without hurting your ears. And so easy to fit. That upgrade is a no-brainer.

Need Forte Advise

I found a pair of Forte's for sale in my area and have a few questions . . . I don't know too much about Forte's . . . would these speakers be ok in a corner of a room 10 feet apart placed tightly between wall on one side and furniture on the other about 10" from the back wall? I'm concerned because of the radiators . . . Plus the radiator caps have been pushed in and "patched" up according to the ebay link below . . . I would run these with my 30 year old Scott integrated 85 WPC . . . I would appreciate any advise, thanks

They should be fine 10ft apart. Im not running mine in corners, but theyre about 10ft apart and toed in just a tad bit and sound great. I wouldnt worry too much about the passive radiators, as long as they dont have holes in em youll be fine.

Hey Cactus Bob, congrats on your forte's. I saw those on ebay and i thought about buying those, but the wife said where in the hell are you going to put those, so that was the end of that. They look like they are in good shape, are they your first pair of Klipsch? I now that you will like them. Enjoy.

They should work fine. I have my Fortes in corners, 15 ft apart, about a foot out. It's probably not the best set-up, but it's the only one possible for me. They sound great with my Fisher 800C.

Hey billy joe . . . I grabbed them Sunday, these are my first Klipsch . . . I wanted a fuller sound with more bass and they fit the bill perfectly! Hardly a scratch on them and the grills & drivers are in perfect shape . . . but I'm running out of room!! Cheers!
