Found NLA mini me... Advent /3

Mystery

constantly upgrading...
Found NLA mini me... Advent /3
These Advent /3 look exactly like NLA with grills on but mini version.
The cabinet, grill and proportional dimension look so matched.
Did I say 'Mini me' from Austin Powers? :D
Haven't heard them yet but thinking about stacking these on top of NLA.
Hopefully that setup will fill/add more mid range on NLA.

These came with a Kenwood KR-2600.
Nice little setup. :)
What's the opinion on these little bookshelves?

Try them on their own they have a fantastic midrange...however if you drive them too hard the blat blat sound from the woofers will ruin the sound...at low to moderate levels and on my tube amp they have a wonderful low end....but are inefficient.
I think if you bi-amped them or ran them with the NLAs you would have the woofer problem...but give it a shot.

I HATED those speakers. HATED.

I don't listen at very high volumes and I don't use any tone controls. None the less it's very easy to get the woofers on those things to bottom out. Ruined what should have been a very balanced sounding bookshelf speaker. Junk.

I see. Stacking with NLA may not work then as power handling is much different and the issue of bottoming these out. :scratch2:

Hmm... I'll keep that in mind.
I found an old thread that have very good responses on these.

They still have stickers on the back so are in very good condition.
Let's hope they don't disappoint me.

Update:
Listened to them and they sound pretty good but little thin even though they do produce good amount of bass.
It's when size matters. Compared to it's bigger brother NLA, I prefer NLA much more.

I would not discount them... at low levels they have a wonderful sound and you get a fairly decent low end....just got to find that magic level correct amp correct volume.
Not trash by a long shot....flawed maybe. Try them with a low powered SS or PP tube amp...
