Frankenthrift setup

Hello everyone! Wanted to share my setup with you all. I'm a newbie when it comes to hi-fi but I enjoy looking for and fixing equipment. I grew up in the 80s and so I wanted to mostly get gear from that decade. Everything in my setup was found at my local thrift shop. I'm not an audiophile or anything like that I just like the equipment and the physical media.

Amplifier: JVC AX-R450 ($25)
Turntable: Sony PS-LX210 ($8)
Tape Deck: Onkyo Integra TA-2058 ($25)
CD Player: NEC CD-610 ($15)
Speakers: Sony SS-MB150H ($10)

Total I think I've spent around $100-$120 getting my stuff up and running. I can't complain for the price.
Everything works as expected (the Onkyo is currently getting new belts so it's not pictured. Would anyone know if TA-2048 belt kit work on the TA-2058?). I'm missing remotes but other than that I enjoy my little "Frankenthrift" setup.

Very nice system, I actually appreciate these budget systems more than the expensive ones. That Sony turntable is a nice find I had one when I still was into vinyl. The speed on mine was dead on and never drifted. JVC made very solid equipment that last and sounds good. Like your system mine is all thrift store and one piece from a estate sale. I need to update my system list here on AK come to think of it.

Thanks! The Sony TT was actually the first piece of gear I bought. It was jammed into the overcrowded thrift store rack covered in dirt and dust-bunnies. However! I noticed that the clear dust cover still had the original plastic wrap and that it wasn't actually beat up just dusty. I figured someone must have bought it and never touched it after. The inside was completely clean and since its direct drive I didn't have to worry about melted belts. It's not the best TT but it works for me :)

Thrift stores FTW! Goodwill has been very good to me. I could have never afforded paying full retail for the things I've bought at Goodwill. Plus I enjoy the thrill of the hunt. You never know what you're going to find, which, for me, is a big part of the fun.

Enjoy your system. Nothing beats a big return of enjoyment for a small investment of cash!

Sweet! Actually quite a solid system. The speakers could use some space to breath though.

Thanks. Yeah, I agree the speakers need some space. Unfortunately, my current living situation doesn't really allow me to move them much if anywhere else. :(

Exactly this! The thrill of the hunt is super exciting! There's some real quality stuff out there if you look :) I consider myself extremely lucky to have found everything at a thrift store within a relatively short amount of time (2-4 years). Currently, I'm keeping my eyes out for a reel to reel.

At least try to get them on the top of the cabinet.

Congratulations! have benefited from thrift and Craigslist finds over the years. Keep hunting and you never know what you will find.

I recently replaced the capstan belt on a Onkyo TA 2058 that I found at a yard sale in my neighborhood. Belt used was EVG FRX6.7 specs are IC 6.7" C/S .206" Wall .035". A good fit. There is another smaller belt approx 1mm x 25mm for the supply (?) reel located under the beauty panel. The original had turned to goo. It now plays well, but sadly does not record.
