Free stuff is the best!

Thrift store scores are neat, but the gift I got today is now my top vintage audio score of all time. My brother in law pops into town and stops by to give me his old preamp and amp. Knows I like vintage audio and just wanted them to go to someone who would appreciate them. Absolutely beautiful Sansui ca2000/ba2000 combo. Free. They sound great and the amp seems to have more power than I can use. Definitely best quality stuff I've ever owned. Time to go listen to some records [emoji2]

Wow.

Congrats, OP. The best "Free" score I got was a free Fisher TT along with a free Pioneer 5 disc CD player and a Fisher and Pioneer Cassette players. I was at a garage sale and it was getting late and the guy said, "Here, nobody is gong to buy these and I'm just gong to throw them out later. Take them."

Nothing like your haul. That's amazing. Enjoy.

They'd go well with a Yamaha GT 2000 and Yamaha NS 2000 speakers. :thmbsp:

Im using KLH model 20's on the amp for now, but I thinks I'm a be needing some speakers to match the beast. The preamp has 2 outputs so I am using the 2nd output to my tube amp and diy speakers (this is my daily listening system). The phono stage in the sansui is definitely better than the one on the tube amp I've been using. Has input sensitivity and resistance loading adjustable. After listening to it like this for a while I plan to swap the sansui amp in for the tubes to compare. Gonna try my m97xe cartridge as well to see if the loading adustment helps it out. Using a stanton 681 at the moment. Just going to make 1 change at a time and listen for awhile. Tons of fun.
I definitely owe my brother in law a steak dinner and then some :)

Absolutely amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Thrift store find of the decade'. Wow.

My big score has been cloths. An incredible amount of TOTL designer cloths in 'like new' condition: slacks, shirts, pullovers, sweatshirts, shorts, swimsuits, shoes, you name it. For pennies on the dollar. I'm not looking for any more cloths ever again... or until the next time. :) I've gotten some amazing threads! Blows me away! Some nice C. Kline white linen beach slacks too, $125 for $6. Patagonia 'like new' $85 'Island Hopper' shirt for $3!! :D ... And it's amazing what I've turned down... just don't need it.

Got a pair of minty 1970 Sansui AS-100 speakers w/ AlNiCos for $9.98. Still haven't found those JBLs.

Ton of minty CDs, almost for free, 50 cents each... or less. 4 mint Zappa's for $2 each a few months ago... Even MFSL and Japanese CDs.

'Beautiful' Japanese dishware & glasses.

It's absolutely amazing. It's like FREE. OK... it is FREE. haha.

It's absolutely amazing.
