I have seen two sets of white van speakers being given away by victims on Houston's Craigslist lately.

I'm giving away a Paramax Surrond system that I got scammed into paying $500 for. I won't scam anyone else. Come get it before I smash it..

I'm giving away a Kinetic Loudspeaker KA-6100 Surround system that I got scammed into paying $650 for when it's only worth maybe $30. The "White Van Speaker Scam" is real. I found out the hard way in a Walmart parking lot. Anyway, someone needs to come get this thing before I smash it to pieces. If nothing else, give it as an x-mas gift to someone you just don't really care for very much!! I don't want it & I won't scam the next guy, so call me & come get it. It's free, & it's yours!!!

I wonder how many others out there have been scammed recently?

I feel sorry for the guy , out $ 500.00 for junk .

Should of remembered that if it sounds to good to be true it more then likely is .

I been noticing more and more adds on the local CL from either the unlucky buyers or the scammers .

He got taken by the same scam twice? Maybe these scammers should get real sales jobs, apparently they're very good.

Wish it was closer. I'd love to have a pair of white van speaks to play with.

It really is a bummer that people are still getting caught by this.

I only feel a tiny bit sorry for those folks who get "scammed" by the white van.

The pitch that most of these people give to their "marks" relies upon greed or dishonesty. They believe that they are getting a "deal" as the result of "too many being loaded on the van" or something simular.

This is where the situation is well-described by the title of a Beatles song, Instant Karma.

Jeez H Christ! If they can throw away that amount of money on speakers, go to a reputable hi-fi store and get a decent pair of speakers. Not someone that sells them in a van.

Sounds to me like it could be a person trying to make a point of warning about the speakers, funny how both use "SMASH" in the ad. Could be just coincidence but could be a sublte effort to warn folks.
I would take them for free and give to somebody who would find use for them

Both had phone numbers and were in different parts of Houston.

I think the second guy read the first guys ad and decided to do the same thing.

My thoughts on it.

Our local free classified sites are loaded with ad's for that junk , under many different brand names , asking hundreds of dollars for them to boot ! There are also a few ad's posted warning not to buy them but I fear that they must be selling . I was stopped years ago by the white van guys , had to laugh at the BS he was sprouting .

Im in the "I dont feel bad for them" camp...

It is totally greed based and most times you think you are getting what basically boils down to "hot" merchandise. Its usually hilljacks that buy the stuff, if you cant tell a turd when you see it, why is it someone elses fault...

Oh, sorry that is what america is based on...protecting the weak...

withdraw my first statement...

A home phone and a cell phone can easily have a different exchange, just saying I found it odd...........I dont care but found it odd.
