Fried Cambridge Soundworks, help!

Here's what I did. I plugged my Cambridge stereo clock with a two prong plug into a power strip. Things were fine. I used the Cambridge and all was well. Then I plugged in a three prong amp cord into the spot next to it. Problem is, I had turned the three prong plug around 180 degrees and the ground prong went into the ground slot for the Cambridge.

So the one set of 3 holes on my power strip was occupied by two separate pieces of equipment.
The Cambridge occupying the positive and negative and the other amp occupying the ground.

Then I noticed that the digital display on the Cambridge had lit up completely. No turning it off or on. Just lit up.

Aside from being stupid, am I out one Cambridge unit? Can it be reset?

How can you plug a 3 prong plug in upside down? It shouldn't be possible. One blade is wider than the other. Try plugging the Cambridge into an outlet by itself.
 
All the 3 prong plugs I have the straight blades are the same size. I also have power strips that you can plug the grounded plug in backwards as the outlets are so close it will go in. I agree though, try to plug it in by itself. I cannot see how putting another device plugged in in reverse will affect the other device.

I tried plugging it into an outlet all by itself and same thing. I'll try it again and post the result.
