Friendly "hello" from France, under the snow!!!

x202-c

Finally using tube!
Hi everybody!

It is past time i introduce myself!

And apologize for digging an old post before presentations...

So happy to have found the schematics of my wonderful Fisher amp, my first wish was to thank Mr "mfbauer" for the documents and Mr McShane for the explanations and advices...

OK!

Let's go!

I'm soon 36 years and i live in France... (excuse me if sometimes the things i write are not completely comprehensible!).

In France thus, about twenty miles away from Paris, where i work, making the lights (!? yes not sound... didn't choose the good studies!) for the shows, at the Opera Garnier, hired, yes!
(pure random, but good random contrary to occasional work i used to do before in little theatres around!).

Already bored about my life and ego?
Everybody's almost sleeping?
Ok!

Let's talk about the only interesting subject for all of us here...now...

...

It's on the way...

...

But before, allow me an ultimate digression... ^^

My "wife" plays guitar and i try to play drums in a, let's say "rock" feeling!

We have a room in the cave of our little house dedicated to play music live.
It's small and you get out a little more deaf each time, but sometimes we live good music moments!

Digression off!

Just to explain that we both love music, but until a few years ago, our money was spent first to buy good tools to play and record our!

So, until about three years ago we had nothing you can call "hifi", to listen the music...
(have a good cry... it's part of the past now! ^^)

The first "playing music" thing has been a rotel integrated amp bought to a cool electronics part seller, good sound follower himself...

Some monthes later a pair of vintage Scott speaker... (not so bad, but very aggressive highs!)

During this period, still secondhand, a bottom of the range marantz cd player and an akai ap-206c joined in for a very few money...

And that was! ... The sound began to give some signs of life...

Our ears slowly woke up...

And all of you know the rest... you're fried out... you realize you NEED to get a better sound... a real sound...

So you save money for a while... and start buying equipment that really makes music:

First : a Jean-Marie Reynaud pair of speaker from the beginning of the eighties (model: "Opera" it's not a joke!!), three ways, focal inside!

Two: Citation eleven preamp and citation twelve (deluxe) amp.

Great!

We can now listen "music"... was i thinking!

Deep mistake!!!

A friend came home recently, the sound is his job and his life...

I did think that the amp was a bit tired... and had told it to him...
But i was happy with it...
It was on my humble opinion really better than before...

We choose "Animals" from Pink Floyd, "track" 3 Pigs... (really dark vibes i admitt... but Pink floyd... the sound... how explain...).

He was impatient to hear the system...
And i was much than him... to hear the verdict...

It's been short, very short!

Just after the bass arrived he told me "Stop!"... your amp is not tired... he's almost dead... listen, he still gives lows and highs but nothing in the middle!

Let' s try another amp... this little HK A 401 you keep in the cave, for example... listen... you see?

F**k! (excuse me, the emotion!)
In fact i had never heard what my speakers were able to restitute...

And the A401 had been able to give us an idea of what would be the sound with a good amp...

I was dreaming of tube amp for hifi, since years, and upgrading to tubes amp for our guitars (Laney LC30 and Reeves custom 18, beautiful btw!) did not help!

Money saving again, patience...

And a beautiful day:

The advertisment, the good one:

"Fisher x-202-c, export 220v version, capacitor changed, new power tubes...bias and dc set"...
Really honest price (for France i mean...), and not much far away to pick up...

It's now home, it works, and you won't be surprised if i say we are totally re-discovering cd and lp's we had thought "learned by rote".

Next step: a better cd player... and later the turntable!

And just before dead... Citation I and II upgraded by Mr McShane!

I wish everybody a merry christmas and lot of pleasure with music!

Bienvenue à AK

Les enceintes acoustiques en hêtre de Jean-Marie Reynaud sont très bien vue au Canada, très recherchées même. Vous êtes chanceux d'avoir des enceintes de telle qualitées.:tresbon:

Anyway, Welcome to AK, hope you enjoy yourself in this forum.

You guys in Europe had lots of snow so far, you'll have a white Christmas this year.

Welcome to AK! A very good friend of mine lives in Paris, I wish I could visit more often. You have a very beautiful country. Welcome to the Fisher tube/valve club, too!

excuse me if sometimes the things i write are not completely comprehensible!

Your English skills are better than those of many people I deal with on a daily basis. :thmbsp:

Bienvenue sur le site x202-c. Par les temps qui courent, c'est préférable d'être au Québec que dans la région parisienne.

Arcam 8se at home!

Hi everybody!

Thanks to all of you for the welcome!

A good thing each week at this time!

Just won on the bay an Arcam 8se for a good price!

 !:tresbon: !

The word is "more", more space, more details, more response, more music in fact!

I think i' m gonna listen some Pink Floyd (what a change!), why not "More"?

Snow goes on again but i'm day off, a shame not to have a fireplace!
