I guess It would take someone with 3 identical
in this case 802’s-604’s
One with an original metal plug
One with the Tangerine plug
One with the new Aluminum Chi made plug
Of course identical phragms
And identical horns
With proper testing
What are the chances???:dunno::no:
Bobhorn
So yea large format-288-290's and small 806-8-2 drivers
Maybe they work for JBL's and other brands???

More than likely Like the cheap useless Chi-Fi 30$ diaphragms, they will not compare well,
with the Highly Machined with close tolerances, and detail of the Orig WE, Altec, JBL's and others.
That I don't believe were made from Aluminum.

Nowadays anyone can buy a big Haas mill..., even the Chinese. These did not even exist way back when.

This shows the complete disassembly of an 802-8G. You may get dizzy......
I was hoping to find a disassembly of the machined phase plug version. I'm sure I've seen one before.
I don't think on those that the phase plug is a separate assembly like the tangerine is.

BTW, the gentleman who I bought this pair from is going to send me the failed original diaphragms.

From this pic it looks like the phase plug screws onto the back of the top plate? It’s hard to tell.

Yep. And it appears that you have to disassemble the earlier driver to get it out. Which means a remag.

The places I know of are

Upland Loudspeakers (Ken)

GPA (assuming they do repairs again)

Weber Speakers (showed up in a Google search, I know nothing about them)

Seems like there’s at least one place Im forgetting. Does Bao at Speaker Repair Pros have the remag machine that Orange County Speaker had?

Yes.

My horn buddy also uses Upland. We are in Oregon, so short ship time. He doesn’t know of any other re-mag sources around here.

The process is at the end of this video. No clue where these guys are or what they are saying. But the whole thing just takes a few seconds.

It's a shame you folks out there lost David Lee/Vancouver Audio.
Interesting. I’ve been here my whole life and was not aware of Vancouver Audio. My horn buddy was aware. But not about David Lee.
He is aware they had a magnetizer. So maybe he can do some investigating. Thanks

Looking at their website under services, it sounds like they had or had access to a magnetizer but don’t anymore. I’m always curious what happens to this stuff and where it goes.

Yeah this place in Canada
