Well, the basic design is very common; it was known by one manufacturer as 'circle of sound'. Popular for about 3 weeks in the late 1960's. Imitated by many, for reasons not discernible. Pretty much crap, although there were some exceptions.

I agree. And I've seen many end table speakers, those hex-shaped Pioneers come to mind, and even my grandparents had a furniture/speaker in their den connected to a 50s Philco lowfi.

It was more the design that I thought unusual - something with elements of a Leslie organ speaker, a sundial, and a church lecturn - altogether an odd mix.

I also wondered if that's grill cloth under the cast iron piece? Just idle curiosity as $200 is way too much for something both non-working and functionally flawed.
