I have been collecting thrift store albums for a long time now. Always looking for the good stuff but the times the good stuff turns out to be the cover art itself. We have seen some websites posted here where a collector of the "odd" cover art. I thought it might be fun to start our own collection.

We pass this stuff by at the thrifts but I think we should start seeking it out. Sometimes pretty funny stuff for two bits.

Im talking the weird, funky thrift store finds. Most of this stuff is from people you never heard of and probabaly never will, I want to see the strange, suggestive and the "what the hell were thay thinking" covers. 50's and 60's stuff.

I going to start off with a hot babe cover from a guy named Jim Carroll (whoever the hell that is/was) and his fine album "CONTRASTS" Notice the sexy baggy bikini bottoms. Very hot :D

Whatchoo got?

I'm a big fan of the "Three Suns" brand of EZ listening (as was Mamie Eisenhower). I've attached a particularly suggestive example.

Here is a fine offering from Bill and Dick.

My wife says that she is not that fond of Bill, but she really likes Dick.

Wow...they thought they needed two vocalists for those early stereo recordings, eh? Bill on the left...Dick on the right!

I am assuming that Bill is on the left and Dick on the right but your guess is as good as mine. I think Bill was the Art Garfunkel of this duo. Dick had the real talent and had to carry him. Hmmm, maybe that was Ben and Jerry :scratch2:

Bill kind of looks like actor Ed Harris.

Two essential websites if you're at all interested in this sort of thing:

A very appropriate addition Toze, due to the upcoming Oct. 31 festivities. If thats Satan in the corner, I can understand their concern. Pretty spooky.

No Satan on this album. Its the ever popular Mary Neal at the Cedarhurst Wurlitzer album. A signed copy non the less.

I think I need one of these for the garage. Organ that is.

I had that Oscar Brand Album.....although mine was labeled as "Oscar Brand X".
"My name is SaM Hall"
"The Hairs on her Dicky-dido"

Oh man....the memories...............

Wow Mark, That Bob and Ray is supposed to be quite collectable from what I understand. Is it really that special sonically?

One other question regarding the mermaid on the Sea Shanties LP.

Is that her elbow hanging over the swinging doors?

Geez, I can't believe it but I snagged that Sea Shanties LP also :lmao:

Doesn't 'Toze or TA or somebody else have it too??

There are several, quite entertaining "Bawdy" albums on Audio Fidelity. Oscar Brand may have been responsible for all of them; I cannae recall at the mo'. I saw him lecture/perform at JHU once when I was in grad school, BTW.

The Bob & Ray is collectible? Cool; I found it at the dump. I am a long-time Bob & Ray fan (also Willard Scott & Ed Walker, The Joy Boys, but that's another topic). The album's in extremely good condition. Not mint but it does sound quite good on the Quads. It needs a proper cleaning, being a bit 'clicky'. No mistracking distortion, though.

I have 5 or 6 of the "Bloopers" LP's; the first 3 are 10" LP's. Dump finds as well; they appear unplayed or seldom played.

Here is Lenny Dee and his organ, Lenny squarely fits into the "WTF?" section of my collection.
