Does the Dead, GDP, own the rights to this name?

I have a "Further" compilation CD going tonight from 1996, HDCD, Hybrid HYY20012.

They pulled a "Journey" by getting Kadlicek from Dark Star Orchestra. Wonder if he is going to tour with Phil & Friends next summer?

I just saw DSO last month in Reno NV and in Albany NY...Kadlicek is awesome. I will be at the Barton Hall and Mohegan Sun show.

Your call. I have seen them. That Rob Eaton guy is on a long strange ego trip. Kadlicek is good.

I'm an over 50 DeadHead. Welcome to AK.

I will at least hit the Patriot Center show. I just saw DSO a week or so ago at the Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown. Although I still find them a little bit like listening to a jukebox, they are very good. I heard that Kadlicek had to sign a contract with the Further gang committing him to them for a couple of years, but I have no idea how accurate that may be.

I knew when he quit DSO there was something cooking.

I've only seen DSO one time, it was at Summerfest, so I just thought I'd check them out. This was a few years ago, they had the original keyboard player that died. Can't think of his name at the moment. Rob Barraco, the guy that is on keys now toured with Phil & Friends for a few years.

Life imitating art or vice-versa?

I saw DSO a couple of times and was impressed with their recreation. But with that comes a tremor or two. At the end of the night, its not the GD but lots of people seemed to not quite get that.

What is the deal with Further? Seems to be the Dead minus Billy and Mickey and a slightly different known quantity filling the Jerry slot.

My 2 cents only, but it looks like Billy K. is being creative in Papa Mali's band and I see Mickey Hart is doing artwork and working with Sikiru and Zakar Hussein. Probably more of interest than playing cover songs in this latest Lesh/Weir lineup.

My opinion though is worthless, I am biased and stuck in the past of 1968-1974 of GD music. I gave up on the rest of them on Augst 9th, 1995 when my favorite guitarist passed away.

Ratdog two summers ago opening for the Allmans brought back 20-30 year old memories of Dead shows, but I still miss Jerry up there.

Summer Tour? Sure not much of one. I hope they add more dates.

George Porter Jr is touring with them on bass, but all the album bass is played by Reed Mathis.
