FYI the Schiit Saga S has gone missing?

Since November I've been watching and waiting for Schiit to restock black versions of the Saga S preamp. I eventually wrote Schiit and asked them, but was told they couldn’t comment on such matter. Today I checked their website and the Saga S is now gone all together. The Saga S was the perfect form factor to go with my Modius DAC. The Saga+ is pretty much the same, but I don’t want a consumable tube added for an extra hundred which also prevents me from putting anything on top it.

I sent them an e-mail today as well. Like you not interested in a tube hybrid. Hopefully there is a replacement or it's a supply chain issue that will be resolved..

The reply was the Saga + is available here. Not pleased with that as it appears they didn't really read what I wrote. Dammit.

EDIT: checked e-mail for reply and Saga S is discontinued. I either have to deal with a tube section (nope) buy used or elsewhere.

Topping Pre-90

Switched to the Topping after receiving two bad Freya+ (Schiit was quick to respond and refund). The Freya+ sounded fine until I tried to engage the tubes. Both pre-amps were horrible/unusable when the tubes were engaged.

The Freya S was not a choice at the time. Then they brought it out, now it's gone again.

The Topping has been bulletproof other than the POS remote... It's dead quiet.

That's kind of crazy about the Freya +, the 3 I have heard in 3 different systems sounded great.

To the Saga S, an assumption on my part but I bet most people moving toward a Schiit Pre are probably interested in the tubes. They may of not sold enough Saga S's to make it a viable product.

So far I love my pile-o-schiit including my Saga +.

Kara is also a larger chassis size. Schiit offers three rather unusual chassis sizes, I would have liked to stick with the one I had settled on with buying the Modius.

For my part, I will continue using the WiiM Pro as a solution, it actually has some benefits over the Saga S, such as PEQ for all inputs. Really the only downside for me, is that I need one additional RCA input for my TT preamp. An external RCA switcher is on the way to address the last problem as I write.

Schiit SYS. :D

Too complex, a simple RCA switch provides me the one extra RCA jack I needed.

To be honest Schiit did me a favor, the WiiM is actually a better, simpler solution for me now, and a $19 switch is a lot cheaper.

Hopefully the relays in the Kara will be much quieter than the relays in the Saga S as I had to put mine in a closet and use an IR extender given how loud the relays are.

One benefit of the IR extender is that now I can point the remote in pretty much any direction in the room and the extender picks it up, whereas with the Saga S, I had to have the remote pretty much pointed at it.

The green dot is the IR extender.
