G-5700 tone controls not working

Picked up my first Sansui piece the other day. All I did day one was verify it powered up and was not in protection mode. Day 2 involved deoxit on as many switches and knobs as I could reach with the cover off. When I was done I hooked it up and at low volumes and tried it out. Everything seems to work fine except for the bass and treble controls. They have no effect at all. Any ideas on where to start with a diagnosis?

Try hitting the switch on the tone selector PCB F-2867 with DeOxit again, work the switch a few times - try it, if it still gives problems then leave it overnight, and try in the morning. (allow the DeOxit to work).

Thanks for the quick response. Before going into it again I looked at the schematic provided by hifiengine.com and it does not specify a switch on the 5700 board, but does on the 6700 drawing. Should I be concerned?
 
No, perhaps just another schematic mistake by Sansui - normal. :rolleyes:

The SM I have is not from HiFi Engine it is from here on AK (in the library), and it DOES name the switch - something like S01C - anyway it's on the F-2867 PCB.

But true to say that the description of all the switches is only listed on one (?) of the diagrams - but it's a shared service manual, so it's ok really.

Thanks again. I've read lots here about Sansui sm's and their "oops" details. I'll dig into it tonight and hope it is something that simple. I really like the sound of this thing so far.
 
The board with the switch is probably not easy to get to, but I believe that the switch is shown on the G-5700 schematic of the SM that you DL'd from HiFiEngine. It is on mine. Look in the top right part of the schematic and find the Tone Board, F-2863. There are two small blocks of F-2867 circuits marked off inside of the F-2863.
S01a & S01c are for left channel and S01b &S01d are for the right channel. All four sets of contacts are on one push/release switch and you will have to work a bit to get the deoxit delivery tube to that switch. If you can get it in there you may have to cycle the switch many times. Think 30 to 50, or more.
 
Thanks for the 2nd set of eyes. I see it on my schematic. You are absolutely right that it is not easy to get at that board. Takes more disassembly time than I had in an evening. It'll have to wait for a weekend day, probably after the holidays. Thanks all for your help. Can't wait to get this baby running right.
