G-7000 and G-7500...Differences?

Folks,
What's the technical differences between the G-7000 and G-7500? Logically, it seems like the 7500 would be a step up, but according to some of my research, it seems to have specs along that of the G-6000. For example, the power output is 90 wpc...true? Also, the "mid-range" control isn't on the 7500 but IS on the 7000. Now that I'm thoroughly confused, I turn to the experts. Thanks very much.

Different series from a different time period.

The G-(x)x000 were first (1976-1977), and the build quality is excellent. The G-x500 were next (1977-1979) and the G-x700 came later again (1979-1981) -- all dates approximate.

In each subsequent iteration, the build quality slipped a bit due mainly to the rising yen. Audio quality remained top-notch throughout.

G-7500 was the TOTL model for that G-X500 series, which started production in latter part of 1978, I believe.
 
I have had both models.The G-7000 has a torodial power supply the G-7500 doesn`t,the faceplates are a different colour, the G-7000 is 85 watts per channel while the G-7500 is 90,also the knobs on the G-7000 have a rougher knurling. They were receivers from different model lines. In my opinion I like the G- x000 series as I have a G-22000,G-9000 and a G-3000.I sold my G-7000 to get an AU/TU 717 combo and I sold the G-7500 when I bought my G-22000.
 
I've owned the G-7000 and it's a nice receiver with excellent build quality. I think the 7000 is more collectible and probably has a higher resale value if that matters to you. Are you thinking about buying one of the two?
 
Unfortunately, it seems I'm at the mercy of eBay when it comes to finding the receiver I REALLY want for my "dream system". There's a G-7500 on there now and I had never heard of the model before. At first, I thought it was one of the later models that have the digital tuner read-outs and LED power indicators, but on closer look I found that it could be something I might want.

So outside of the power, would there be any reason to get the 7500 over the 6000...or hold out for a 7000? I've got that guy from work offering to give me his old G-5000, but that really doesn't have the power I want and it needs repair.
 
Dude, you should have been more specific that you were ready to buy!

I would have shot you this G-8000. I caught it right away when it posted, but decided not to post it in D&S. Was tempted myself, but I've been down that road before. It's sold now just a couple hours ago. :tears:

The G-8000 is head and shoulders above all the other models previously mentioned. It sold for a VERY respectable $250 which the G-7000 and G-7500 would be roughly selling for, if not more. G-8000's usually sell for around $400.........
 
ARGH. This kind of stuff makes me sick. I've been scouring the Bay for four months now and haven't seen anything I wanted to afford, or just plain forgot about, or lost at the last minute. I never saw this auction and I've been searching for all possible combinations of "Sansui G" verbiage. DARN!! Of course I've LOVE to have an 8000. But my wife would shoot me if I paid $450 for it. My surround sound receiver didn't even cost that much.

Yes, I am ready to buy. I can't finish the system I got going together without the receiver. My poor Kenwood is about shot! However, I don't want to go broke just to satisfy a childhood jolly. :D
 
What speakers are you driving? My G5000 drives all but my 4 ohm B&W's louder than I want to listen...If you can get one you might want to consider it. Work with it and be patient...your (mine too) day will come. I just bought a 6060 which I can't wait to use and compare to my G5000.
 
Will be driving a pair of Polk Monitor 10s. It's not that the G-5000 is a bad choice receiver...I know it's an AMAZING receiver because I grew up with one. But that was my FATHER'S receiver and only had 45 wpc. My Kenwood puts that out now. Call me crazy, but it's become an consuming idea of mine to get the stereo I always wanted and then some. You know what I mean....my father had the chance to get the better Sansui but didn't....so now I want to. :D

You have to learn how to use the eBay 'search' feature and add the 'email alerts' to the search! That way you are notified each day of all/any Sansui G-xxxx you are interested in.

The 6060 and G-5000 should be a very equal pairing. :thmbsp: Either of those units will make you smile!

You make several mistakes in your comments.

The G-7000 and 7500 are along the same specs. The G-6000 is not along their specs.

A midrange control is absent on both the G-7000 and the G-7500.
