G-7000 FM stereo issue

G-7000 FM stereo issue SOS

FINALLY got my 7k to sign again and sounds much better than the 5k I've been listening to . Last issue seems to be with the FM stereo mode . When the stereo mode button is turned on I hear no difference . The signal strength does drop when the mode is activated . I've confirmed that the FM stereo light does work but does not activate as it should. Do I need to look at the FM muting board (2615) or do I need to look somewhere else ?

Cheers

can't offer much help here, but how did you get your 7k going again? it looked like it needed a lot of work!? update thread?

Does the stereo mode make a difference if FM muting is on or off?

Oh ya , there was a lot of troubleshooting and waiting for parts in the mail to get this working again . A complete basket case from the start . Replaced the mess of dial lighting with proper NOS parts .Pretty much rebuilt the driver board but had an issue with a bias pot . Replaced the faulty pot . Two output transistors were missing so I installed four new ones . The faulty pot blew a resistor on the power supply board. That was the last item replaced . I got power back and set the Bias and DC Output.

Now running the receiver with a new to me set of Dahlquist DQ-10's and it does sound great .

Now to the FM muting . If the muting is either on or off the FM signal drops when the FM is in mono mode ( button is pushed in to save confusion ) .... The signal comes back up when the Stereo mode is selected ( button out )

The mode I listen to it the more I hear a very faint difference between stereo and mono but nothing like the G-5000 does .

the difference should be pretty obvious and the FM stereo light should activate.

sending out an S.O.S. to BKtheKing, Dr*Audio, Ghazzer, etc etc!?

Just wanted to bring this issue to the top again. I got the FM antenna wiring sorted but am still having issues getting FM stereo to work . The signal strength meter will jump and stay around 4.5 - 5 when the stereo mode is selected but the working stereo indicator light does not come on, nor is there any difference in the sound. Any help would be awesome as this is the last hurdle for me to correct before I can get this receiver back to regular use.
