Can some one tell me if the G 9000 case is the same size as the G 9700 case. The G 9000 has that metal peice that runs along the sides at the botom. I was thinking of making a few cases as many have asked for this style case to be reveneered Thanks tomefs

They are different. The sides of the 9000 case are shorter because of the bottom frame rail. The sides of the 9700 case come all the way down to the bottom of the chassis. The 9000 also has nice cast metal escushions around the side cutouts. They are plastic on the 9700.

I forgot the biggest difference. The 9000 has a plastic vent grill on the top of the case. The 9700 has saw cut slots instead.

Thanks Pete. The case for a G 9000 is doable but to make a case for the G9700 with out the grill on top and slots instead might not look right, if made by :scratch2:me

The slots on the top are simple saw cuts but you would need a very good blade to cut them without chipping the veneer.

The slots cutting buy saw should be done at the very end and looks time comsuming and if you mess up the whole case is no good , so maybee I would practise a few times. One more question is the G 9000 case the same as the G 8000 case thanks

Yes, the 8k and 9k cases are the same. The 7k is much smaller. The 9700 and 8700 cases are different. The 97 has cutouts on both sides, the 87 only has it on one side.
