Nicely done case, though that looks to be Baltic Birch plywood, not solid wood. Still, Baltic Birch is a high end plywood with even thickness plies. A great finish on it too!
Yes once I got the case off I realised it was ply....It does have a great finish!!
The tuner was a bit of a mess, I had to take the Front End pack out, and rebuild the Variable Cap on the LO, It was falling apart, and also one of the RF Gang trimmer caps was broken, I rebuilt that from a spare Tuner I have for spare parts.
So pulling the front end apart not exactly very simple, had to basically restring the whole thing as there was a whole lot of grease all over the dial string.
Then I found that every possible thing that could be adjusted was in fact "fiddled" with. The dial tracking was out by 3mhz thanks to the broken LO trimmer cap, and the dial string which had been installed badly and the dial pointer wasn't secured properly so it was slipping on the string....
It took me twice as long to align this tuner but it ended up turning out quite well. The FM Stereo indicator is out, so I am going to have to find an original type to buy from a parts unit, they are special type which is not available new any more.
The customer uses the tuner, so I should imagine he'll be quite happy with it....
