G9000 pop in left channel

Just a point of info: the amount of voltage fluctuation of offset you describe is really of no concern. The switching between + and - is also of little concern at .4mv.

The offset fluctuates from .4mv to about .4volts, or .4mv to 400mv, and is accompanied with the audible but soft pop.

Thanks.

I took TR05,08, TR06,07 from a good driver card, put them in the "bad" driver card............... offset is GOOD! So one of them is bad, don't know which one. Parts should be in any day.

One thing I did notice is that on the bad card, the traces and eyes right around the said transistors lifted real easy, actually need to be repaired. Seems like it got pretty hot.

Anyway I'll be replacing the transistors with the new ones when they arrive. Replacing with 2SA1837 and 2SC4793.

Thanks again!

Got the transistors replaced. offset is good, no more pop. So the driver card is good to go. BUT, I have weak bass in the left channel. The weak bass stays in the left channel, even after swapping the driver cards.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks to EchoWars for giving perfect info for the TR05,06 TR07,08 replacements. With some of the other replacements listed the bias was difficult to adjust. With the replacments listed by EchoWars the bias can be adjusted perfectly at 16mv. Just as an FYI the replacement parts would be the KSA1381 and KSA3503. Mouser #512-KSA1381ESTU and #512-KSC3503ESTU.

Thanks again!

Seems like I made an error in my recommendations for replacements for the above transistors. I acknowledge the ones you quote from EW are the correct ones, and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I can at least salve my conscience with knowing that I identified the problem ones :smoke:

Ahh, he still had a cheap repair bill. :thmbsp:

Glad you got it running.

Did you try Kevins suggestions?? I think they would work also, but ya, the parts Echowars gave are the best replacements.

No problems on the parts. It was a nice experience for me. The parts are cheap and it was interesting to see how the different TR05, 06, 07, 08 replacment parts kind of worked, but did not allow you to adjust bias to dead on balls accurate.

My wife and I were listening to the G9000 last night with some Pink Floyd tunes - it sounds great!

I only have to recap the tuner board, but not for sure it is really necessary. The tuner card looks like it is a hassle to access properly for recapping.

Again thanks to all for your help. And thanks to AudioKarma, without AudioKarma this would not have been possible.
