I just recently finished and am enjoying a Garrard SL95 and am currently working on en ELAC Miracord 770H with a lot of help from the fine folks on this forum. I had a Garrard AT60 in my youth and always had a soft spot for it even though it is not a high end unit. I saw one on CL several months ago for $55 but the seller never returned my email. Now it is down to $30 and I will meet him tomorrow to get it. Although dusty it appears complete and looks pretty nice in the pictures he sent. It may take a while to sort out the tonearm/headshell issues on the ELAC and in the meantime I will have another project to keep me busy.

Oh really? What is it that you like about it? I haven’t had one probably since about ‘78 so I don’t remember it too well. I downloaded the owner’s manual and had a quick look.

Nice, don't often see them with the cake top.

The AT60 I think has the antiskate weight too, unless that appeared with the Mark II version. I had one a while ago, but the pin on the tonearm that the weight engages was broken off.

I love that cover RDW :)

I use my AT60 as my garage jukebox at present, it can even manage a mix of 7 and 12 inch 45s.

Yes I think mine had the anti skate but I never had the dust cover (but I had the same wood base). I don’t remember when I got mine or if it was a MkII but it was my first “real” turntable. I am supposed to pick it up this afternoon.

Yes I wanted that cover originally but I was just a kid and didn’t have the extra money.

Well I picked it up today and other than needing the usual cleaning and oiling it seems to all be there and in pretty good condition. After a quick tonearm balance and setup it even plays although very sluggishly (of course with a junk disk). I will probably dig into it tomorrow.

When I told the seller that the AT60 was my first real turntable he said it was his too. Apparently he bought it new at a PX in 1964 or 1965 when in the military.
