I've been thrilled with this turntable since buying it in my local RESTORE for $6.00 not long ago. The manager noticed me walk in, told me to stop (town of only 36K people where I'm a regular), and led me to the turntable (he knows I like GOOD home audio). He let me know it's British, has an Audio-Technica stylus, and seems to mechanically work although he hadn't heard a record on it. Sixteen years ago I bought a shocking stumbled-across find in an Austin Goodwill because I was aware of the band but had never heard this album due to lacking a turntable...it sounded great!
About a week ago the Auto setting started not quite leaving the tonearm on its stand, only dropping it between the stand and the record (holy crap noisy!). Now the GT 120 ap squeaks terribly while spinning a disc. I assume it's time to change the belt and lubricate the mechanisms.
May I have recommendations on the best belt brand to purchase? Also advice on proper lubricant type would be very much appreciated!
