Yeah, I tried heat. The pawl moves, but is far too tight, I dropped some Liquid Wrench on it hoping it will soak in and free it up. The rod is solid tight.
 
I've found that heat is the easiest solution. You also need to move the pawl as you're applying the heat. You just need to heat it up enough that the rod slides out. Heat from the top of the gear and move the pawl on the opposite end. After it comes out, you need to get the pawl free from the rod as well.
 
^^^ Don't heat the rod part - heat will expand the hole, but if you expand the rod, it defeats the purpose.
If you get it out, a thorough cleaning of the hole and rod is essential. As said, the plate on top should be very free moving.

It won't. You need to dismantle it, clean it completely of old grease and reassemble with new lubricant.
 
Acetone or Brakleen might get it loose enough to get out of there. I've had to do that on changers before to flush enough of the old lube out in order to make it let go enough that it will come apart. Just make sure there aren't any plastic bits in the area.
 
Okay, I am giving up on the automatic functions for now (too close to xmas). Going to have to take it all apart to get that pin out.

Manual functions work beautifully. However, I get a loud hum on the left channel on phono on my Pioneer-3700 when the volume starts low. If I pull the left channel RCA from the (grounded) SL-95 and re-insert it pops and goes away. I suspect the RCA cables or connections. I've cleaned connections with De-oxit and waiting for that to dry before I try again. Any thoughts?
 
My sled on my Zero 92 are intermittent. At some point I want to replace it. Seems OK for now. Be careful getting that pawn apart. I broke a plastic piece on a SL95. Parts unit now!

Sometimes the trim plate on top of the headshell gets loose - often gluing it down will improve the contacts. RCA cables also a common problem - the ones in it are probably not original any way (IIRC the originals were grey and brown wires)

‘Thanks, I do this on Dual 1000 sleds. It works. On my 1219/1229s I get new sleds from BEST. They work really well. AKs “notransistors “ helped develope them. The gold plated contacts are angled to make better contact with the arm. Replaced most of the 1219/1229s around here with them. As for my Zero, it works. Don’t fiddle with it and it’s fine.

Well, the Garrard is now on the bench until I can get back to it. I picked up a Technics SL-b100 to get my wife for Xmas, simple and easy, she's happy. The Technics, a Pioneer SX-3700 and Kenwood LS-407B’s were her gift (she's wanted a turntable for years).
