Garrard Zero 100SB Power Supply

Hi all,
I have just pulled a Zero 100 from an old Goldmans music centre. It was connected to the Goodmans in 2 places. The RCA outputs and a connector plug to the main pcb for power.
The music centre has a large transformer which then distributed the power to the various components.
Is their a power supply you can recommend that I can plug into? Obviously needs to be a low cost solution to make this project worthwhile.

Hi Jon!
I´m pretty sure the Zero 100 is run on mains power (110 in the US and 220/240 in EU) and not from a transformer.
On the stand alone decks the mains power goes to a junction box and from there the power goes to the motor and on/off switch. There´s a pretty god pic of the assembly of a Zero 100sb in this thread.

So maybe the wires you se coming from the transformer ar just pass throughs of the mains power?
If so you maybe can make some sort of junction box. Just be careful with that high power electrics

Here is my corresponding photo. Is your photo flipped or did they make different handed versions?
Also motor is in a different orientation.


I’ve highlighted some differences in wiring on your photo. In red the junction box is a little different. Also in green I don’t have that box.

Any ideas what these differences are?

Hi! Not my photo in the vinylenengine post. Just thought it could be useful since it´s of a sb model (belt drive). I have an idler drive zero100 and did not want to post photos of that since it may differ some.
Doesn´t seem as if your picture uploaded ok...

But if I´m not mistaken the part you circled in red is the on/off switch whitch is operated by the levers and mechanism next to it.

Ahh, I just realized you may be looking at a non-international version. The box circled in green above is the unit where you choose if the turntable should be wired for 110v or 220v. Or that the transformer box in the console may have this functionality. Here´s a part from the service manual describing how the box with the clear plastic cap works:

‘Never seen this. Have several Garrards here. Mine are like T68 says. Power cord to plug underneath goes through a switch to the motor. Where rare you located? Will look underneath one of mine. I have never really looked at the wiring on these as I never have had an issue here. Will get back after a break.

I am back. Have a Garrard SL95 that is the same underneath beside the arm. Looks like you need a switch as shown on my pic. And a power cord. Have both. If are mechanically inclined, I can send them to you free. PM your address

I have a problem. I apparently have the non-international version of the 100SB, and although the motor says 120/240V, there are no links to switch on the terminal block, and the motor was hooked in series. Someone at one time cut the leads on the motor and connected them in parallel for 120V. I verified that the circuit is correct, but the motor seems to be lacking enough power to start turning the platter without giving it a boost by hand. Once started, it will run fine. I had to re-glue the round magnet that provides the sync to the line cycles back on to the rotor, but that shouldn't affect the torque, and the magnet is centered and doesn't rub. I haven't verified whether the pulley is the 50 cycle or 60 cycle, but I need to get the toque problem solved before I determine that. Anyone have a thought about this or suggestion? The platter turns freely, but the motor is easily stopped by very little finger resistance on the pulley without the belt on.
