I have a friend who priced some of his vintage gear to me. I will post and see if anyone may be able to identify any pieces as exceptional and or a good deal. I think condition is good on all pieces but they have been sitting up unplayed for many years. Thanks for any help and input.....he has a lot!

where to start??Pieces that are exceptional in that list are few, of the ones ive owned or seen working. The only pieces id have interest in IF I wanted to run Solid State gear would be..
Kenny kr-9600....decent price
Sansui 9090...decent price
Pioneer sa-8800 ...decent price
Sansui Au-9500...good price
Understanding that they would all have to be gone over by a tech to make sure all were operating to spec
Soundwise all the ubove would be bettered by a multitude of vintage PP tube amps mated to quality efficient vintage large cabinet speakers..

No screaming deals, but for $75, I'd get the Sansui 4000. Might consider the HK 730 also. Everything looks to be market pricing, depending on where that market is.

If you are needing a nice preamplifier, that Carver C-1 is a pretty good price if working. IMO, I don't see any "great" deals but there is a lot of good stuff in the list for fair prices, if you have a need for them.

The Pioneer 909 may be a good one for the price if it has the hubs, metal reels and works. A other few decent pieces at decent prices but no screaming deals that I see. It looks like he/she priced these to entice bulk purchases.

Depending on the condition of the Kenwood KR-9600 receivers, that is an excellent price. Not sure what this is exactly....dyna sct-35 150.00
If it is a Dynaco SCA-35 tube integrated amp, that is an excellent price if it is in working order. If instead it is a Dynaco ST-35 tube amp, it is a screaming deal. While the Sansui AU-9500 is not cheap, the indicated price is not bad by comparison and is a very good SS amp. The Sansui 990db receiver is a good deal and the price for the Technics SL-1600 is decent for a good turntable.

thanks for all your responses...i am following up on every one of them. This was a little overwhelming to me since i am new to this hobby.

The Sansui 1000A for $350 is worth it. I wouldn't bother with the Dyna FM3 unless it works great and is in nice shape.

Also, the Harman Kardon 730 is a terrific receiver and the price listed is a great deal if in good working condition.

LOL. I just read this thread with some trepidation as I just visited the seller yesterday. And came home with five pieces (well six, but I'm counting tuner/int. amp as one). It was a brutal hot day in sun and 95 degree Alabama heat working off an extension cord on back of cargo trailer. My testing was limited (and one/two pieces were not tested because that is not recommended for that gear).

I came across this as I am cleaning the first unit (all very dusty and not presentable) and decided to scan info here on AK first (somehow I missed this thread in my prelim research).

I'm relieved to see that based on some responses here I got some ok deals (and I'll note he offered discount as I was buying bulk). I don't think I got any scores that make for fantastic flips (considering cleaning and testing time), but I got pieces that I am personally interested in having.

Lakegville (I can guess where you are -- as I'm sure you can guess of me), the seller (your friend) is good guy and I enjoyed my visit and time with him. Some of the stuff is clean and in his house, some is dusty and untested in trailer. Need to test the stuff in trailer as, for instance, the KR-9600 in wood case (poor condition) powers up but relays don't click (and from what I've read, if the problem is the outputs, that one is a boat anchor -- but I should note that is the only piece in my limited testing where I found a problem other than (hopefully only) dirty pots/switches). I just did quick tour through house (little of that stuff was on the list I got from him beforehand), but all I saw inside was (on exterior anyway) very clean and in excellent condition.

Also, if you are new to this, you should know that it will cost you around $100-150 to get any of the units in trailer cleaned and serviced. You can learn to do it here yourself. I've now done 5-10 units and it takes me 1-3 hours (or more depending on what needed). You'll also need to spend some time reading generally how to do it, and then probably reading service manual of the unit you buy. I took some risk on all the pieces I bought because my testing was limited (e.g. used only headphones on most and didn't test any phono) but I felt ok based on the prices and, well, the heatstroke risk. As it turns out thunderstorm hit right after I had paid and loaded my car.

Condition is everything and by going off the listed pricing, some must be better than others. Based on just what is posted, I see some very nice deals but it would all depend on the condition. Photos would make a world of difference.

Hi there! You know anyone that has a video on how to replace potentiometer(treble) on Pioneer SA-8800, the stem was snapped! Thanks

Can't find one on youtube? Have you done any disassembly and soldering work in amps/receivers? If not it will be a job for an experienced tech.

Open it up, desolder old one, stick in replacement, solder it in. Pretty easy if you know what you're doing. Pretty bad idea if you don't. You can get a replacement on eBay.
