General Question about Elekit TU-879s

Alright guys, I've never really dealt with tube amplifiers in the speaker world and I'm just generally confused about why they seem to be sought after in some circles when they don't seem to ever have as much output power as even entry level receives and solid state integrated amplifiers. I found a really really good deal on this DIY kit to build an Elekit TU-879 and it's labeled as a single stereo tube with an output of 8.5W at 8OHM. I own two sets of speakers in the Boston Acoustics A150 and a pair of Polk Monitor 7's. I'm just wondering the output of this particular tube will be enough to power either of them. The Boston Acoustics are 150's are 8ohm w/ a sensitivity of 91db/m, not entirely sure about the 7s.

I've run similar power levels on speakers around 90 db efficiency and it does OK for me. I don't listen very loud though. The Fisher I'm running in my bedroom I've clocked at all of 9 watts full power both channels driven, and its loud enough to hear anywhere in the house running Klipsch KG-4's.

The Fisher will do about 17 per channel, but it drops to 9 if you feed both. I've also run a Magnavox amp that only did around 10 a channel without any issues.
 
I had a TU-879S previously and it was excellent. It sounded best with my efficient Tekton Lore speakers.
I would not count on it powering much else and sounding up to its potential.

I always use a speaker level sub with these small amps too. Otherwise I feel my bass is lacking.

Roll a Tele 12AX7 or Amperex Bugle Boy in this amp. The Tele was clean and detailed, Bugle Boy, well, outstanding! Never got to roll a Mullard into the V1 spot. Great little amp!
