I was buzzing the local Savers today when I noticed this unit on the cart getting ready to be shelved.

I get it, put it up on a cabinet, and start looking at it more closely. Marked at $19.99. I was skeptical, as to why a fancy monster looking receiver has a sub woofer built in to it, and why the presentation was nice, but the inputs, outputs, and other integral details (like the weight, or lack thereof) weren't quite adding up.

Out comes the smartphone, up comes the browser, and in to the search of AK goes the model number.

Here are the results:

...uhuh...

After reading this, I kindly cleared a spot on the shelf in the appropriate section of the store, and kindly placed it there, and then walked out with Percy Faith - Leavin on a Jet Plane and Don Ho - Tiny Bubbles (LPs).

Thanks AK, for everything. Without you, us noobs would be finding this stuff out the hard way.

In thinking about, it is funny how light this 'Monster Unit' was, even including the integrated subwoofer. It was significantly less than my 8" Acoustic Research 100w Powered sub. That wasn't a flag at the time, but now it makes sense.

I probably would have if the White Van Warning wasn't going off like crazy.

And it's not just AK, even google has warnings everywhere about these things.

The interweb is a wonderful tool!

Hey I bought one of these before seeing this post. Mine was less than $20. I plugged it in at the store and the lights came on. So, I brought it home. It was stuck on DVD input so I just hooked up a pair of junk speakers and an ipod. Well, I realize that the original price of this thing would have been prohibited for me to purchase. But, I'm certainly ok with it. And, as a bonus, I have the Harmony remote that allowed me to access the menu so I could switch inputs, sound, am/fm, speakers, eq and other things. So, at $20, if I didn't own one and I knew it would do this, I would buy again.
