Genesis Servo 12 Sub info?

I have this subwoofer but I don't know much about it. Research didn't find me much besides the name. It has a neutrik plugin and that's it. I'm not sure where to find an amp for this. It's very heavy and seems to be well built. Sure wish I could listen to it. Any info on what I need to power this would be helpful.

If it's truly a servo sub I think it needs to be hooked up to a servo amp to get the best performance out of it. I am guessing it could be run with a standard amplifier but that would increase distortion.

Genesis is very nice equipment, sorry I can't offer any better details. How about pulling that woofer out and taking a picture of the connections?

Yeah that looks like a 4-conductor variant of the Speakon connector. Probably a motion/velocity sensing device mounted near or on the cone.

The original amp/servo control would be very desirable here.

Not pictured is a huge pile of polyfill.

Looks like its a DVC driver with + and - terminals separated. That neutrik wire is cut and rigged

Gary Koh is the CEO of Genesis as well as a friend. I'll try and ask him about it when he returns to town.
Is there a specific model number listed anywhere?

On some servo'd subs, the motion sensing may be as simple as a woofer with two voice coils. One for driving and one for sensing. Some processor would still need to be involved to get the performance that Genesis had intended.

Maybe it's not all bad. Let's see if TerryO can get some info from Genesis.

I can't get a good feel for the wiring based on those pictures, but my speculation is someone tried to rig up the sub for use with a non-servo amp or maybe even put a different driver in the box.

I know what you mean.

The baffle hole doesn't look too cut up though. It may be the stock driver. My guess is, somebody lost the amp/processor and just wanted to hook up both coils for the bump in output.

As far as I understand the Nuetrik wire for a Genesis servo sub is supposed to have a feedback wire which looks clipped and rigged - poorly. Here's the brochure on the original cord: http://www.genesisloudspeakers.com/brochures/Cable_Servobass_Brochure.pdf

My main concern is if it's an actual genesis sub/driver/box or if someone re-badged the grille.

looks entirely legit to me, although there's clearly some new wiring on the woofer. that's the oldest incarnation of the Servo 12, before they made the curved piano-finished cabinets. looks like all the wire connections are intact, if not pretty. you'll definitely need one of the original Servo 10/12 woofer amps to get the full functionality.

This thread is over 10 years old and the OP has only posted 1 since he/she started the thread and that was 8 years ago.

If it were me I would go straight to the source and contact Genesis directly and see if they have schem in their archives, which I bet they might.

They said they don’t have any documentation from the “Genesis Technologies” period? Strange Indeed!

So maybe someone has a copy of the service data for this amplifier?
