I have two of these (copper plated chassis's), one has 12AX7/12AU7 early stage tubes and the other has 6SL7/6SN7. From my research, this differences in designs are common with Big of California, they made different versions of the same model, although the schematic that I have (SAMS) they use 6SN7 for both tubes and I haven't any luck finding the print that uses 12AX7/12AU7 or the 6SL7/6SN7 . I do have an schematic for the G50D that uses the 12AX7/12AU7. I want to make both them the same type, which one is better pairings for input tubes ? Also does anyone have any other schematics that show these two different pair of tubes in the G30U

Watching as I have a pair of g50d with the 6sl7/6sn7 combination and have the same schematic you do.i have yet to find one that has the tubes mine uses.

If making the chastises match ....it would seem to me to be easier to drill out the 9 pin socket holes to fit an 8 pin octal socket...than try to figure out how to make a 9 pin fit the bigger hole of an octal.

So....go with the 6SL7s.

Edited:

But it would be a shame to alter a BIGG amp. I guess if you could make it look the same as the other one.....

Hey, there is a BIGG G 30U amp on Eflea now....for parts. Uses the 6SL7 tubes...
Maybe pick it up and use that.

I am a pretty good fabricator, so going either way is not a problem for me, but what is a better combo the 12's or the 6's ?
