Getting a Cassette Player for the Car???

I doubt they make em anymore, if they do Ive never seen it. Could get a good used one tho

Wonder what they would say if you asked for an 8-track player.
I had to put an OEM one in my 1976 Dodge motorhome for nostalgia's sake. Rarely use it, but it works great. Have thought of getting one of those liscense plate frames that says "This vehicle still plays 8-tracks".:scratch2:

Used is the way to go. Even if someone did/does still make a car cassette player, it is a safe bet that the quality won't remotely compare to the Pioneer, Clarion, or (especially) the Nakamichi or McIntosh players of yesteryear. I kick myself for letting a cheap McIntosh player escape me; it was the last one I ever saw (at least until now).
The downside of buying used, of course, is that you'll probably have to give it some TLC to get it working perfectly and reliably again.
Who cares what guys in the audio places think? DO IT! It's your car and your ears. If they don't want to do it, find someone who will. Maybe someone older, who will remember and have experience with the players, and appreciate what you are doing.
My father still has his old Cadillac from the seventies, with what was a great (I thought at the time) cassette AND 8-TRACK player in it. I think next time I go back, I'll look into removing it, before the car is sold (which it will be at some point). I have great memories of teenage evenings with music playing through that system, with impressionable young ladies sitting beside me on those seductive automatically reclining front seats... Yeah, that might be just the car sound system I'd like most to have... :yes:
