Crows Eye Productions on YouTube. This is a channel about historical clothing. This all-woman team has the “Getting Dressed” series that is fascinating. In the UK they have historical seamstresses that recreate historical clothing down to the last stitch recreating clothing exactly how it was originally made. The cloth they use is made on restored or recreated historical equipment. It is dyed the same way. The British Museum has actual examples of period clothing going back to about the 4th century AD.
“Getting Dressed” shows mostly Women but also men getting dressed. What makes this so fascinating is you see how everything goes together. It is one thing to see Queen Elizabeth Tudor in a painting in full court regalia but to watch someone actually put on such clothing is captivating. It took 2 ladies in waiting to help her into all of it. Not only do they do the fashions of the peerage through the centuries but also the working class.
