In other words, DON'T get old tv nut a flat screen, me a turntable or something the recipient would not enjoy.

I'm going to pretend that @Shominy posted above me and I'm going to get him snow spikes. They might be known by other names. They are spikes that you attach to hiking boots for hiking in snow, on icy surfaces. In case Shom plans to hike this winter.
