Glad to have my NAD 7020

I've owned A NAD 7120 receiver for about 25 years and have been very happy with it. Having been a huge fan of their earlier products, the 7120 lived up to the perfomance of the much acclaimed 7020 and 3020. Well about five years ago, my ex-brother in law(and friend) got into ebay and informed me of the abundance of NAD vintage products available on ebay. Checked it out and sure enough 7020's and 3020's all over the place. My interest in audio at that time was kind of on hold at that time so I didn't pursue it any further. Always stuck in the back of my mind though, and about a year ago I started watching the bay for either one. Finally decided on a 7020 and managed to win it and whoa!, what a nostalgic rush. Great sound and while my 7120 sounds just as good, there's something unexplainably great about listening to tunes on the 7020. Anyways, I'm really glad I made 7020 purchase when I did because there is hardly ever a 3020 or 7020 listed on the bay anymore. And if one does come up, it sells for a lot more than what I paid. Say what you will about the unreliability of NAD products and the cautions required when making ebay purchases, this 7020 is rock solid reliable, sounds fantastic and ebay gave me the opportunity to achieve this.

Those ugly-duckling 7020s are something special, aren't they? Mine blew a channel roughly two years ago, and I finally got around to fixing it last month. My violinist daughter will take it to college with her this fall, along with a well-worn, refoamed pair of Ohm Ls, and I'm hoping that the system will start her on the path to becoming an audiophile.

It's the tone the nad puts out,its all in the tone of the sound coming from the early nads,my 3020a has it too, voices sound fleshed and right on.

I have had many,many pieces of gear,and this makes some people a little upset,but the tone of those can't be beat,I dont care how much money you spend,I've done that too. Ya,the little cheap nads are freakin great....they sound right,I have had separates that look cool,and had just OK tone.

You have heard it said"the magic is all in the midrange" I think thats mostly true, for me anyway,cause all the pieces I've liked the best, have better than average mids.

I have bought the Naim naits and they're OK peices,but the tone is nothing special.IMO

Im a big 3020 fan,never had the reciever,I would like to get one.

Anyone know which is the better version? or some indicator to look for?
