Going from Wharfedale Diamond 10.7 to Supper Linton?

Hi all,

Currently have a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 10.7's and was wondering if anyone has heard those as well as the Super Linton or Linton 85th. Would there be any advantage to upgrading from the 10.7's to the Linton 85th or Super? I can't really audition so I have to be careful about just "going for it" so hoping someone has some experience. Pro's & Con's and all that good stuff. My receiver is 90 WPC so not high-power at all.

Thanks,

joey

Hard to say, without hearing them side by side in your room with your system. If you can afford, remember that you will always wonder until you commit.
Happy listening :)

I use my Linton 85's with an 8 watt tube amp, 90 will be fine. Not heard the Supers.

Thought I'd follow up on this post. I finally got the Super Linton's and all I can say is WOW! Going from the Diamond 10.7 to the Super Linton is about 9.5 upgrade. I've had them about 2 weeks and while they're not even broken in yet, what an amazing sounding little speaker. The Bass is so clean and powerful! The tweeter is another plus because while it's very present, it's never glaring nor fatiguing to the ear. Glad I took the jump!

Are you still happy with your decision? I have the 10.7 and have been debating the move as well. Hoping for a little more wall of sound and some better separation and details in complex passages of music.

Oh...smartest decision I ever made Hi-Fi wise. The Diamond's are Towers while the Super Linton's are bookshelves. The Base and Mid-Range on the Super Linton's are FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC compared to the Diamond 10.7's. I use my Diamond Center speaker and Diamond rear bookshelf speakers with the Linton's...with multi-channel audio (Quad SA-CD, Quad Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray Atoms, Blu-Ray DTS HD Master Audio, DVD 5.1 and 2.0 PCM audio) it sounds fantastic. Towers are great for Home Cinema applications, but when you want music, nothing beats a bookshelf speaker and these Super Linton's are KILLER.
