Going rate for Altec Voice of the Theater speakers?

So, I just experienced a pair of Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater speakers driven by an Altec tube/transistor amp (with plug-in transistor modules) and now I crave a set. What do these generally sell for? The friend who has the ones I heard paid $600 for them, which he described as a "steal." I don't have much money atm, but these would be something to save for.

If you have the room and a way to move them, start by looking for empty A5 or A7 cabinets. Lots of people have gutted them or used them with other drivers for live shows. A beat up pair can be as low as 100. Then take the time to refinish them. While they are getting worked on, find drivers and crossovers, or better still, skip the passive crossovers and use a cheap Behringer electronic crossover with horn CD switch. Just having the cabinets will prompt you to find the rest, and the rest is easy to ship:yes:

Point out which model you want, then we can give you a better idea..

Also, if they were something like Valencia or M19's.. those aren't reallu VOTTs

You probably heard the A-7`s. They are a nice speaker and sell for around 700-1200 on average.
depending on condition of course. This means if they have the original finish and at least 90% of the stickers on the side showing.
I can see the cabinets selling for more in the future. So many have been stripped and destroyed over the years.
