Good equalizer compliment to SX-838

Hello all,

Looking for some recommendations on models of Pioneer equalizers to pair with my SX-838. I know there is the SG-9500, but its pricey from what I see and doesnt look to be as wide as the SX-838. Its a really nice eq, but not sure I can afford one!

Any others recommended that would work well with my Sx-838?

gonna need to look for later Pioneer units when the prices are lower on the used market. The 9500/9800 are the top priced units.

look on the bay for the pioneer SG units and see what you can find. You will not find one that is designed to be visually paired with the 838 because Pioneer did not offer an EQ while the 838 was available.

All that said, there are plenty of great brands for EQs, I would want a Luxman, Soundcraftsman, SAE or some other brands.

For an EQ that JUST WORKS, look at the Audio Control 520B. It is 5-band but three are bass, one midrange and one high end.

You have tone controls, with the eq add the low bass, and take out the mid-bass thump and adjust the upper bass using the 520. Then the midrange for vocals and sparkle for highs from the 520 and get all the sound quality without the smiley face and ridiculous price of a Pioneer SG-9500. Had a 9800, kept the Luxman G-120a but don't really use it. I have a tone control unit also but don't need that much either.

Or get one of the many units with the fancy light display in the middle if you want party lights that really don't mean anything.

EQs go from totally crappy to full featured and able to dial in your system but those can be spendy.
