have phil jones bass heaphones, but they are falling apart, pretty weak construction. I know velodyne used to make some made of aluminum, but I don't see them anymore. I'll use them plugged into my computer to practice songs off youtube with my bass, but also for just listening to music. Any recommendations for good ones?

@joebeadg ever get anywhere with this? Get new cans yet? I actually ordered two sets myself. Arriving Wednesday is Monoprice 8323 and arriving Friday is Audio Technica ATH-50x. Bit of a margin in cost, but both have had great reviews. I'm new to the headphone game and wanted to see what the difference may be between different price points.

If you want them to withstand abuse, and want them bass heavy for practicing the bass, I can recommend the Technics RP-DH1200. You can get them still new on ebay.

Now, they will not stand comparison with my Sennheiser HD-650, but this is not their target.

If you want excellent sound quality and decent build, get a pair of HD-650. You won't regret.

Audio technica ws1100is. 54mm drivers that produce a very big amount of bass down to 18hz and its tight and snappy. 120 dollars on amazon. They sound impressive for normal music listening too!

  • Edifier H850 - Tuned by Phil Jones Pure Sound-- These may look familiar! :) But, at a lower price! (looks like an Audiokarma/Viglink.com redirect away from the Amazon link sends you to Walmart, where they are "out of stock"... Not my doing!)
