Good Substitute for A25 Grille Cloth?

Looking for opinions about this old drapery I picked up today. I'd often thought that the fabric that companies like KLH, Advent, AR & Dynaco sometimes used really resembled drapery fabric more than anything else but I'd never found anything remotely suitable in the drapery department of a fabric store. Then today at the Goodwill boneyard I saw a wadded up bundle of cloth that turned out to be an old drapery.

What do you folks think? Would this be a suitable replacement for the A25 or other Dynaco grille cloth? The sort of stripiness isn't consistent with the original but it's close in other resprects.

I currently have a pair with the grilles covered in generic black speaker cloth which leaves me decidedly underwhelmed.

Aesthetically it looks nice.

If it's open enough it shouldn't effect the sound so give it a try.

It's definitely open enough. If anything it's more open than the original linen.

I've got a set of Seventeen grilles with the original fabric still attached. The fabric is stained and torn so I made up new boards and recovered them. The boards themselves are broken and repaired. I may experiment with them. There would still be enough cloth to do the A25s and several more sets.

I have a pair of the A25s that are stained.

I heard from a friend who restores bridal linens, and lace etc that Oxyclean is the way to go.
