"Good Vibrations" 45th anniversary

Forty-five years ago today (October 10, 1966), Capitol Records released The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations." Brain Wilson's symphonic masterpiece cost a staggering (at the time) $50,000 to produce and marked a complete departure from the group's previous surf/hot rod/party tunes. GV was supposed to appear on the "Pet Sounds" LP, but Brian insisted it wasn't ready. After several more months of experimenting, the final mix, featuring cellos and an electro-theremin, was finished. Two months later, GV was No. 1 on Billboard and also in England. It would be the group's last chart-topper of the decade. GV ranks No. 6 on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" and is included on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll."

I remember when it came out ---that worabbling tones and echo's made it sound like a song from space...definitely ahead of its time during the day.
One of their better tunes.

One of the greatest songs ever recorded. A true masterpiece. I read somewhere that they used three different recording studios.

I have seen it performed live 5 times. Three by the original Beach Boys and twice by Brian and his solo band. Perfect each time.
