Goodbye Farewell and Amen

Forgot the final episode of MASH was being aired on ME TV last night and missed the first hour or so of it. What i did see sure brought back memories from the first time I saw it. I was in the NAVY when it first aired and deployed on my first WesPac, so did not see it then. I do not remember if it was a rebroadcast a couple of months later or the ship got the video and showed it on the ships cable system, but I remember being riveted. The TV lounge in the berthing compartment was packed and the unusual part, everyone was quiet.

One of my favorite shows and definitely my favorite episode. How about you? Were you one of about half the country that tuned in for that last episode? Did it grab you like it did me and could watch it every time it's on

I remember watching it back in the day. I didn't get into Mash until it had been on for a few seasons. Eventually became my favorite show. Brings back a lot of good memories when I happen to tune it in nowadays. Great show!

First season was best one for me - aired without a laugh track, Wasn't the same show after Henry Blake was offed. Lost a lot of its. edge.

No. The show went down hill the last two or three seasons.

The MASH movie was the perfect length, and Frank Burns was gone within the first half hour.

Same here, watched all of the first season and most, maybe all of second, but ducked out after that.

I love the series.Pwrhaps my all time favorite. I didn't care for the first few seasons. It tried too hard for laughs and seemed out of place for the situation. I preferred the Col.Potter years.I felt it started to run out of gas near the end.75-80 were to me the best.

One of my fav TVseries.

Unlike the many, I preferred more so the series rather than the orig movie. Just a personal take, eh?

Read a short mag-type book on M*A*S*H, and was amazed at the many problems/issues/people probs that was run into in the making of this series and the ability to keep it on the road. Plus, the very little that there was in the way of background/environment that was used, yet it really wasn't apparent since the series was so...people orientated.

I kept thinking Nam at times, and had to keep putting it in the back of my mind. The production did have its dark moments.

The different writers with the bumps in the road, along with the weather was something that the camera crew and cast had to deal with was amazing, yet they carried on like troopers!

Hawkeye was of course my fav, esp with the roller-coaster personage that he covered so well.

It proved to be a monumental series. I still miss it!

Old post......the show went down hill when Mclean Stevenson, Wayne Rodgers, and Larry Linville all were gone. It might have been a bit week for the first few episodes, but improved greatly.
I am not a fan of the last three seasons at all.
