Miguel, I'm glad for you that you have a way to keep music in your life. If you had to give that up, altogether, that would truly be a tragedy.
My late father-in-law had glaucoma that went undiagnosed for too long. Optic nerve damage ensued, and gradually cost him his sight. He had an integrated and a autoreverse cassette deck, 25 years ago, that we modified, while he could still see a 'keyhole', like you, to give a touch indicator of what button was which. I used 2 mm beads of glue to create distinct feelable indicators for each button and knob. You might want to think about that, while you can still see enough to do this, and get used to it. If your sight continues to degrade, though I pray it won't, you'll be ready to continue playing music, and won't have to climb a learning curve, at a more challenging time.
And that's a pretty nice digital rig, too. You're not giving up that much to the sound of vinyl.

Hang in with music despite your condition. It's really sad, but I personally couldn't imagine a world without music, and know that if there's any way for you to enjoy tunes you must. Get some high resolution computer files and discover the beauty of high definition audio! It really is all that it's cracked up to be, and after getting the schiit bifrost DAC my computer playback is amazing. My soundcard upsamples everything to 24/192, and that's what the non-upsampling DAC sees. Everything plays through the line in on my computer, raising the quality level considerably. Keep your attitude up as best you can, and I for one will be praying and sending good vibes your way. Music is therapeutic in its own unique way.

So I guess I haven't completely given up on vinyl. I'm picking up my old Rega RP1 from a dealer. I originally left it in November so he can sell it but because of so many good vinyl only releases I decided to pick up the un sold RP1 and keep it. I'm not planning to get as deep into vinyl as I once was but I do plan to buy albums if they are not available on CD, which seems to be the case now and days. It will take some effort to play a record but it can be done.
The only regret I have about selling off my equipment and collection in December was getting rid of the Nitty Gritty. 90% of the LPs I had have been replaced with its CD counterpart and the other 10% I kept since they weren't available on CD.

Sorry to hear about your condition and maybe I can help. 1) I'll buy your Rega from you if its manual 2) I will send you - no charge - Technics Sl-1910 full automatic...just give me a chance to get it working right...Iit just arrived today for me to fix up and sell but I would MUCH rather give it to you...
What do you think ? Can you handle a week or so with CD's till I can get this done and send to you ? There is no dust cover but hell, you don't want to fiddle with that...

For a blind or sight-impaired person wanting to continue playing LPs , my first & best recommendation would be a refurb'ed and properly set-up ReVoX Linatrack TT equipped with a 'P' mount magnetic cartridge with a simple user-replaceable stylus not Grado or Audio Technica due to their stylus remounting stress.
An Audio technica cleaning device can be used with this TT before play and this TT has an automatic stylus cleaning brush arrangement.
